A specialist in cross-border investor relations and financial communications, Nick Bastin joined Capital in 2006 and has fifteen years’ experience advising clients on various aspects of their international capital markets communications activities.

Nick started his career advising on and implementing the communications elements of privatisation programmes in Central and Eastern Europe, including Romania, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Hungary and Poland.

Since then, Nick has built up extensive experience in reputation management for high profile organisations, advising senior level personnel on financial and corporate communications strategy, crisis and issue management, investor and media relations. Nick has strong transaction experience having worked on 22 IPOs and 20 M&A deals.

Current clients include TAQA, Nyrstar, ezzsteel, Majedie Asset Management, Media Council of All Saudi Banks and AFK Sistema.

Prior to joining Capital, Nick spent six years at Smithfield Financial and five years at Dewe Rogerson.  An arts graduate from Lancaster University, Nick also has a Masters in African Studies from London University. Nick speaks French.

In 2007, Nick published A Very Canny Scot, Great Daniel Campbell of Shawfield and Islay 1670 – 1753, a biography of one of Scotland’s leading figures of the early 18th century.
